Born in 1938 in Torii-zaka, Azabu, Tokyo, her great-grandfather was Dr. Kanehiro Takagi, the baron and founder of Jikei University School of Medicine. Her grandfather, also a baron, served as the university’s president and was a surgeon. Her father was an architect, and her grandmother was the sister of the Arishima brothers, Takuboku and Ikuma, and the elder sister of Satomi Ton—a family deeply rooted in Japan’s cultural and intellectual history.
She attended Den-en Chofu Futaba Gakuen from elementary through high school,
then studied oil painting at Joshibi University of Art and Design,
while also learning at the renowned Setsu Mode Seminar.
In 1966, she moved to France, where she worked as a designer for numerous apparel companies. After marriage, childbirth, and accompanying her husband on an overseas posting,
she returned to France and began designing children’s clothing, including for Petit Bateau.
She also flourished as an illustrator and journalist, gaining wide popularity for her fashion illustration reports in ananmagazine.
In 1986, she launched her own total women’s fashion brand, “Calandrier,” under Tokyo Blouse.
By 1998, she became Design Director for the V de B fashion jewelry line by Vendome Yamada.
In 2004, at the age of 65, she gracefully retired from all professional work—
and now enjoys a peaceful life in France with her husband, who is one year her junior. 💐
Such grace and elegance in the air~~〜
Even her signature…
is a fashion illustration in itself.
You feel it—
your curiosity awakens,
you want to know more,
and then… you experience it. ✨
