During my day-time seminar I talked about the state of PC's in Japan
and I received this information from friend

International Assessment of Adult competence in Japan
Day posted：
PIAAC（Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competences) is an
international survey that is the adult version of the learning achievement survey
done in developed countries.
This surveys adults from the age of 16 to 65
on skills such as
"reading comprehension"
"numerical thinking ability"
"problem solving ability using IT"
that are necessary in work.
This was conducted in 24 countries/regions,
mostly developed countries that are members of the OECD
(Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development)
About 150,000 people took part in this survey.
The results showed…
That roughly one-third of the Japanese people can't read Japanese.
That roughly one-third of the Japanese people have the numerical thinking ability of a
3 or 4th grader or younger.
That there are less than 1% of Japanese that can do basic tasks using a PC.
Among the working population under 64 yers old,
1 in 3 people can't even use a PC.
