I used to talk with my mother
on the phone every day.
But now, that’s no longer possible.
Something that was once so simple—
just picking up the phone—
now feels impossible,
even if I stacked miracle upon miracle.
I used to be afraid to listen to her voice
left on my voicemail.
But after attending Yuko Kasamura’s seminar,
I felt certain: I can listen.
And on the Shinkansen, I finally did.
I shared that story yesterday.
Today, I looked back
through my mother’s photos.
Life is a miracle.
A true badass in the fisheries world. (lol)
