📝Excerpts(from:Lobsterr Letter vol.75 )📝

After taking a big hit with the pandemic and letting go of one-fourth of their employees in May, Airbnb "discovered the need of remote workers to "work from someone elses' house". In a press release released this week, Airbnb said they are rebranding their platform to make it easier to liven this era of remote work. In the photos in the press release, it depicted a new lifestyle of a mother participating in a zoom meeting net to where her children are playing.

According to data announced by Airbnb, there are more and more people who are staying for over 28 days in their country home. Since the pandemic started, in America guests mentioning remote work has triple compared to the previous year, 「ペand searches using the filter "allows pets" has also increased by 90% compared to the previous year. Stays in houses close to nature and outside of the urban area such as national parks in Virginia, Stratton in the state of Vermont, Whitefish in the state of Montana are also increasing.

In the past, "gentrification of the urban areas" was its core power, and thus raised the prices of the areas with a higher demand, but now in the era of the pandemic, Airbnb's core power has become "gentrification of the countryside." According to research companies, housing prices in the countryside went up by 11% in July which was a higher rate than the growth in the cities. Airbnb data shows the desire of change in the lifestyle of the upper middle class who have the room to let go of their house for a time. Airbnb is looking to fast track the changes that are happening now, and enabling customers to instantaneously change its consumption behavior.

It enables making a countryside loghouse or cabin that anyone would love, your work place. Real estate owners in the countryside have recognized this new need, and it is predicted that houses set up for Airbnb style stays will be on the rise.

As remote work becomes more normalized, it will likely enable a new economic growth in countryside real estate and tourism industries thanks to the digital platforms like Airbnb.

Half a year has already passed since I moved to a village called Tsururi in Hokkaido.

I'm looking forward to the opportunities in the countryside as well and hope to do something interesting and fun.

Today we have excerpts from "17 Laws for your Dreams to Come True"

This goes back to Takumi-san's student age, and writes about his experiences.

There is so much "information" there, and through that it will also increase our own experience.

↓↓

"17 Laws for your Dreams to Come True"

(p154: Excerpt from "Listen to the voice in your own heart"

"Ask yourself each and every moment,

"What do you want to do?"

"I want to go this way"

"I want to rest a little here"

"I want to close my eyes"

Might we often be ignoring our own feelings,

or acting outside of them?

Is not our own conversation with our own hearts the one who will be with us throughout our whole lives, lacking?

What I realized
↓↓
I was taught

"What is important during the first half of our lives is skill,

but what is important in the second half is the ability to know ourselves"

Since then, there have been 2 things I am conscious of.

"The ability to know myself" and "how I handle myself"

Asking myself each moment "What do I want to do?"

teaches us about how to handle and communicate with ourselves.

As written in this book

we often ignore our own feelings or act outside of alignment with them......

How can we enjoy life more?

How can things go better?

Before we think such thoughts,

we should take a moment to stop,

and talk with our our hearts, to listen within.

This question, "What do you want to do?"

I felt is an excellent question for self-coaching!!

Of course you may get bored of yourself, only doing what you want to do.

What is important is the balance between "you you want to do" and "what you must do"

"Conversations with yourself, in order to know yourself"

I realized an important point that I almost forgot about.
