The boundary between man and woman…!
Discovering the world of transgender (“newhalf”) performers made such a huge impression on me that I’ve been fascinated by it for about 30 years, ever since my late twenties.
It’s been quite a while now since Haruna Ai won the world championship.
The Japanese contestants who take on that world competition — the national contest to decide Japan’s representative is being held at Omotesando Hills on August 2.
On the judging panel:
Haruna Ai
Maki Ohguro
Leslie Kee, and more —
a wonderful lineup of people taking part.
And among them (lol)…
Takumi Yamazaki
has been invited as a special guest judge!
Please, won’t you join us on August 2?!

The other day, I spoke at the “Law of Attraction Festival 2026” hosted by the goddess Mika Mika.
“Amazing Things Happen Easily — The Art of Attraction”
was the theme I had the honor of speaking on,
and over three days I felt the passionate energy of more than 8,000 participants.
Mika Mika went from being a completely ordinary stay-at-home mom
to practicing the Law of Attraction and success philosophy,
and in just three years became an entrepreneur who flies all around the world.
She turned that experience into a form anyone can reproduce,
and her mindset course reportedly has
over 1,000 graduates.
Now, Mika Mika
is holding, over three days starting July 28,
“The Law of Attraction: Complete Mastery”
— a free seminar by that name.
“I want to change, but nothing in my reality changes.”
“I studied attraction, but I got no results.”
It’s meant precisely for people like this —
concrete steps to make your wishes come true,
content you can learn over three days.

Really, it’s amazing, isn’t it.
I mean, it’s kind of a relief, isn’t it.
Basically, when you take in dietary fiber,
your head clears up,
your personality improves,
your lifespan extends…
…a total win!!!
Eat it!

Article intro: Why doesn’t life change?
As adults grow older, there comes a moment when they realize, “I’m just repeating the same mistakes, the same anxieties, the same kind of life as before.” About 100 years ago, there were three great geniuses with completely different backgrounds and ways of living (Viktor Frankl、Carl Jung、Alan Watts).
-
Frankl: a doctor and psychologist who survived the brutal concentration camps
-
Jung: a psychologist who studied the depths of the human mind (the unconscious)
-
Watts: a thinker who spread Eastern philosophy (Buddhism, Taoism, etc.) to the West
Though these three lived in completely different worlds, they arrived at the same shared truths (five rules) for living a rich life. Let’s look at them step by step.
Stage 1: The Five Rules for Living
Rule 1: Stop chasing happiness; instead, search for “ikigai (meaning).”
-
Explanation: Modern society tends to make “becoming happy” the goal. But Frankl believed that “as long as a person has a reason to live (a meaning), they can endure any hardship.”
-
Analogy: Alan Watts said, “Chasing happiness is like stroking the surface of water to leave a shape — the more you chase it, the more it slips away.” Even if life becomes convenient and easy, without “ikigai” in the heart, a person only ends up feeling emptier.
Rule 2: Notice the “unseen self (the unconscious)” within you.
-
Explanation: We tend to think “I understand everything about myself,” but in reality we’re controlled by unconscious habits and assumptions. Jung believed that unless we face the “darkness we don’t notice (the unconscious)” inside us, life becomes an endless repetition of the same mistakes.
-
In other words: Rather than looking away from the parts of yourself you dislike or the feelings you hide, noticing “ah, this is a habit of mine” is the first step to growth.
Rule 3: Live in “this present moment” (don’t be trapped by past or future).
-
Explanation: Humans tend to waste time dragging around regret over past failures or fearing a future that hasn’t even happened yet.
-
In other words: As Alan Watts taught, life is always nothing but a continuous “now.” Concentrating on “what’s right in front of you now” is what matters most.
Rule 4: Let go of life’s controller (don’t try to control everything).
-
Explanation: We think “I want to move everything the way I want,” but the world holds far more things we can do nothing about — the weather, other people’s feelings, and so on.
-
In other words: If you try too hard to make everything go your way, you’ll only end up suffering from the stress. The flexibility of “accepting what you can’t control as it is” is what matters.
Rule 5: Rewrite the “story (label)” that binds you.
-
Explanation: Without realizing it, humans hold rigid assumptions (stories) like “I’m this kind of person” or “there’s no way I could do that.”
-
In other words: Those assumptions are nothing more than labels others slapped on you, or a “cage of belief” you built yourself from past experience. By noticing it and letting it go, a person can be reborn as a new self at any time.
Summary (Conclusion)
The most important message these three sages wanted to convey is: “Look deeply into your own heart, don’t be swept around by anxiety about the past or future, find the ‘ikigai’ you can act on now, and take a step forward.”
It’s a story about how choosing to face “what truly matters” — even though it takes a little courage — rather than drifting down the easy road everyone takes, is what leads to a life without regret.

At Worgan-za the day before, with lyrics that came to me on the spot…
Worgan-za in Hiroshima
memories of Tokaichi, and
the footprints of a friend who lost their sight
a chansonnier in Paris
the vineyards scorched under a blazing sun
the Tube in London
a stray band bursts into bloom
with a torn scrap of cloth
wipe your tears and runny nose and laugh
a rightful melody on the melodica
until you lose track, until the morning comes
the lion king
grinding the ink
a human-faced fish drawn on paper
the parade begins at midnight
blue droplets through the gap of the listening room
all of it, fiction
that too, an illusion
made to dance in someone’s game
a street dance full of contradictions
the memories I loved —
can I keep them going tomorrow too?
the afterglow of the hatred we shared —
I remember it yesterday too
a circus flag drawn in the condensation
let’s leave the shop before it dries
with gypsy embroidery,
“I love you,” onto the heart
swaying peach smoke in a Middle Eastern lamp
napping carefree atop a pure-white giraffe
out of tune
a song by a man who can’t quite pull it off
walking softly, step by step
she treated me to it
