Historical Coaching Approaches: Two Key Trends
↓↓↓

  • "What should I do now that I have subordinates?
I don’t know what I want to do. What should I do with my life?"

  • Coaching for VIPs
    The three essential elements are...

↓↓↓

  1. Skills and Flexibility
  2. Determination and Self-Alignment
  3. Love and Conviction

↓↓↓

When the other person casually thinks,
"Oh right, coaching!"

  • Don't become a cast member in someone else's story!
  • Stand tall and confidently say,
"Yes, exactly! What is it that you really want to achieve right now?
Are there any challenges you're facing?"

↓↓↓

  • Are you lacking confidence and unintentionally becoming a cast member in their story?

Judo Athlete Ishii: From Japan's National Team to the Olympics

  • "Congratulations!"
  • But for Ishii, his mindset was:"Anything less than gold means death!"

Hiramoto's Realization:

  • Hiramoto, sensing Ishii’s intensity, made a life-changing decision.
  • He also declared, "Anything less than gold means death to me too."
  • He was determined to become the world’s number one mental coach.

The Story of an Asian Sushi Restaurant in the U.S.:

  • Why was a future top mental trainer working part-time in such a grueling sushi shop?
Because it was all part of the plan — it was "the setup."

The Story of the Hotel King, Hilton:

  • In an interview, someone asked, "So, you went from being just a bellboy to becoming a hotel magnate?"
  • The hotel king replied, "I started as a bellboy to become who I am now."
  • Looking back from his success, he saw no shame in where he started. "It's all part of the story."

Choosing Clients Wisely:

  • He chose his clients with care, understanding the power of belief in dreams and the importance of love and trust.
  • From the start, he made a choice to be with those who shared the same vision.

From Homelessness to Hiring:

  • Even when he was homeless, he employed others.
  • The principle: "Don't do what you're bad at — only focus on what you love and are good at!"

The Importance of Technique in Coaching

  • Coaching Clients:
Often, when you listen carefully, what’s really needed is counseling.
    • Help clients release anger, practice meditation...
    • Then, transition into true coaching.
    • What’s needed is the ability to respond with both technique and flexibility.

Helping Clients Become Self-Aware

  • The goal is to make clients aware of what they’re unconsciously avoiding or suppressing.

Team Building:

  • Using a chair, create a visual map of an organization’s structure.
  • Focus on direction, distance, and the unique perspectives that come from each individual’s position.

For Example:

  • If a client asks for meditation, don’t just provide it.
Why do you want to meditate? When did you first feel that way?
    • Don't focus on their immediate request.
    • Focus on their deeper needs: What’s going on in their mind? What’s motivating them?

Questions to Explore:

  • What’s been working well for you? When you’re in a good state, what’s going on? What would need to happen for things to improve in the future? (Future focus, positivity)
  • What’s difficult for you right now? What specifically is challenging? What positive experiences from the past could help move forward?

Key Mindset:

  • It’s not about "trying hard" — it’s about being passionate and fully immersed.
  • Coaching is about unlocking that passion.

Reflecting on Akio Hiramoto’s Wisdom:

  • The key is to draw out passionate focus.
  • Can you elicit that from your clients?
    • That is coaching at its best!
