Yesterday I went to Minami Nagareyama〜
Thank you Chiori!
I appreciate you!
I also met WAKA too! It's been a while!
Becoming a family connected by love,
beyond blood and genes.
Why was such a desire given to me?
This lies in the way I grew up.
Until today, I myself have lived in a situation
where I felt it was very difficult to live.
I hated myself so much.
I couldn't open up to people and
there wasn't a day that goes by that I didn't think "I want to die."
I lived my life in despair.
At the age of 14, I made a vow.
"When I grow up,
I want to help children who are in the same situation as me."
And 15 years ago,
I worked as a school nursery school teacher for children
I shared meals with children after school.
I spent two years trying to reach out to children who were not attending school or were withdrawn.
I made friends with children who came out of their homes and went shopping with them, cooked and ate with them, etc.
If there was a child who had been abused
and whose mother had stopped coming home
I would run to the house and sleep with them.
I listened to the mothers.
I listened to the children's stories.
Almost like a misplaced button,
I watched people who loved each other,
hurt each others lives.
I realized that we hurt each other because there are many things we don't understand.
I understood how parents feel when I became a parent for the first time.
I realized that people suffer from loneliness
because there is no one they can safely ask and say "help me."
I felt that people are suffering from loneliness and sorrow.
Mothers' smiles return,
and the children can smile again too.
I hope wish to help
connect the lives of mothers and children
8 years ago, I established
Overgene, a non-profit organization
which connects the lives of mothers and children,
and started to visit children in children's self-reliance support facilities and orphanages.
Every month, we deliver birthday cakes with the names of the children whose birthday month it is,
to the boys' and girls' dormitories every month,
to communicate to them
"Thank you for being born."
"Thank you for being born."
"Thank you for being alive."
