■ If you narrow down your "friends" you'll know more about "yourself"
□■━━━━━
"How many good friends or acquaintances do you really have?"
This is something people think of when sending year end cards.
Regarding this, Robin Dunbar, head of the Social and Evolutionary Neuroscience Research Group in the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford, is advocate of an interesting theory.
"【150 people】is the number of individuals with whom any one person can maintain stable relationships"
∴‥∵‥∴‥∵‥∴
Of course this is just a theory, but countless interesting evidence has been discovered.
----------
Evidence 1
----------
If you research the population of 20 tribes that still live
a lifestyle as hunters and collectors, the average number of their group was 【153 people 】
----------
Evidence 2
----------
Famous enterprises beginning with high-tech material Goretex, began morphing its organization when reaching over 150 people.
----------
Evidence 3
----------
Modern army's minimum unit of squadron is made up of 130-150 members.
----------
Evidence 4
----------
The community members of the Amish, who follow strict religious precepts in America, are on average 【110 members】and after reaching 150 members, most of them separate communities.
Furthermore, according to social psychology,
the number of a "sympathy group" that are so close that it's hard to be separated is said to be 12-15 people.
With the development of facebook and other SNS, our concept of "friend" has changed drastically.
It's possible now, more than ever to make a broad range of acquaintances, and to share your private life with them.
However, are such "connections" the same as "bonds" that will empower your life?
Let's think about it a bit.
----------
1)If, you could really only make 150 friends in your life, who would you choose?
2)Among the friends you chose, do you think they also chose you as part of their 150 friends?
3)What does "friendship" mean for you?
----------
The more you think about it,
you'll discover what you are truly looking for.
