ChatGPT Maps: Beyond just map data, it cross-references a wide range of information — web articles, blogs, social media, official sites, and more — to investigate. For example, it also factors in things like “trends in online reputation” and “detailed facility conditions” when gathering information for you.
2. Handling Complex Conditions, and What Each Is Good At for Comparison and Analysis
Google Maps:“a nearby café” or “Italian food in Shinjuku” — for single conditions like that, or for pinpointing an exact spot, it's unbeatable.That said, you have to compare and judge multiple conditions yourself, one by one.
ChatGPT Maps:For things like “budget, distance from the station, atmosphere, business hours, specific facilities or must-haves,” you can give it complex, multiple conditions at once in natural language. On top of that, it organizes everything into a comparison table and scores/sorts it on its own, or proposes the best option tailored to your preferences.
3. The Role of the Map (Finding vs. Thinking/Planning)
Google Maps: It's a highly precise “map itself” covering the whole world, and it's overwhelmingly strong at real-time traffic conditions, detailed navigation, and route guidance.
ChatGPT Maps: It doesn't just help you find places — planning like “what order should I visit these in to be efficient”, or business uses like “competitor analysis,” “listing sales prospects by area,” and “finding underserved gaps where there's demand but few stores”, data analysis and decision-making support — that's what it's good at.

Scenes where Google Maps shines:
You want to get to your destination right now via an accurate route (real-time navigation)
You want a quick check of a nearby shop's hours, how crowded it is, and its exact location
