This was during World War II. 


The English government was facing a certain problem. 

It was how to make the distinction of the planes flying this way....
whether they were assaulting planes of the enemy country Germany 
or whether they were their own planes returning home. 

Being able to make that distinction speedily 
was of utmost importance.

They relied on "Spotter." 

Spotter was a genuine airplane geek.

He could tell by just the sound of the engine (from far away) 
which country the plane was from. 

The British army tried to train as many spotters as they could. 

However, this was the next problem they faced.

"These spotters, 
  could not specify what they were hearing, 
    and explaining it clearly
    in a way that others could copy 
   was impossible. "

It's not surprising. 

There was no way that they could 
communicate how/what they were hearing. 

Even so, it was a race against time. 

So the British army devised 
an innovative method.

Pair up a mentor spotter 
and a new spotter

The new spotter will only answer 
"friend or foe" when hearing the plane's sound.

And the mentor will simply give feedback 
"right" or "wrong."

This extremely simple method of education 
worked wonderfully well.

「Can do it for some reason」
「Can see it for some reason」
「Know it for some reason」

There is much unexplainable wisdom in the world 
that cannot be made into a manual. 

The more inexplicable it is, 
the less people there are who could do it, 
and the greater the value. 

There should be something in your field like that.

So, what to do to gain that wisdom?

∴‥∵‥∴‥∵‥∴

That is, to consistently be near the person 
who has that wisdom. 

And to ask for 「"feedback" not "explanation"

∴‥∵‥∴‥∵‥∴

If your passion, 
and what you want to accomplish is clear, 
the other person will likely agree to help. 

It's a great opportunity for your abilities 
to become clearer to the person as well. 

Inexplicable wisdom can be learned
by staying close to those who have it.
