■ Dreams that are clear on

what you must do daily, come true
□■━━━━━

┌1)Sketchy goals

are the same as not setting any
└──────

How are you spending your new years?

It's a great time for setting 2020 goals.

Today I will introduce a certain experiment
that is good reference.

In 1981, Canadian psychologist
Albert Bandura did the following research.

He collected 40 children aged 7-10

who were really not good at mathematics.

And he had them all complete a 42-paged workbook,
in 7 separate times.

He separated the children into 3 groups,

and gave them the following instructions.

--------
Group A
--------

"Please complete a minimum of 6 pages per time"

--------
Group B
--------

"Complete all 42 page
s by the end of the 7th experiment."

--------
Group C
--------

"There is no specific goal, but please answer as many questions as you can."

The results were interesting.

┌2)Dreams that come true that are clear on

 what must be done daily.
└──────

After the 7 times,
the percentage of those who completed the whole workbook was as below.

∴‥∵‥∴‥∵‥∴

--------
Group A
--------

74%

--------
Group B
--------

55%

--------
Group C
--------

53%

∴‥∵‥∴‥∵‥∴

How did you answer?

This results of this experiment teach us about
how to set goals that can be achieved.

See especially the results of  B and C.

Sketchy unclear goal setting,

ends up being more or less the same
as setting no goal at all.

What is important, as group A did,

is whether the "daily subgoals" are clearly set as well.

Goals with clear daily to-dos are what come true.

Thank you for reading today too!

"Positive thinkers" are "happy?" Not necessarily so!

La Mer the Classic at Shima Kanko Hotel was exquisite!

This red bean soup was amazing too!

I love the "smell of cypress" of the Shima hotel Classic lobby ・・・

Year-end and beginning of year Present Q&A

1)What can I do to earn more money?

2)How to stop negative thinking?

○●━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━●○

<Question from readers>
Currently I'm importing accessories from overseas and selling them in Japan. I enjoy this job, but I want to earn more money, and become happy and financially free. If you, Ken, were an individual business owner like me, what would you do in order to earn more money?

<Answer from Ken>

There are only two ways to  increase sales in business.
Increase your prices or increase the number of customers
It's either one of these or both.
For example, if the accessories you are dealing with now are 3,000-5,000 yen.
If you switch to handling mainly 300,000 to 500,000 accessories, your sales will increase 10 to 100 times.

Or, say you sold 100 accessories a month that are 3,000 yen. If you could increase that to 1000 per month, your sales will increase 10 times.
It's not that complicated, and you could increase sales online, or to sell into department stores etc and expand your sales channels.

My mentor, Junki Yoshida (founder of Yoshida Sauce) first started from floor sales in supermarkets. He sold many sauces in a day, and increased purchase, and eventually had a special corner set up for him, and that expanded in more stores which increased his sales channel and grew from there.
So I think its about how much you yourself want to expand what you are doing, or how serious you are about using all your talents to compete.

-----------------------------------------------

<Question from readers>
I always tend towards negative thinking.
Whether its a mistake at work, I get down that
"I'm such a loser that I make a mistake like this."
I think、”My boss probably thinks I'm incompetent"
And think about my mistakes in the past, and get
even more stuck in negative thinking. Once I get
stuck in this loop, its hard to get out, and there are
times when I waste whole days dragging it around.
Even when I think it's not necessary to get so
discouraged, its hard to change my thought patterns.
Please give me any advice you have about how to switch
mental patterns or improve negative thinking.

<Answer from Ken>

Both negative and positive thinking are like habits.
And its not necessarily a matter of positive thinkers
being happier either. Even positive thinkers, are filled
anxiety they can't stop, or can't sit still to think calmly etc.
They have their own set of troubles.

So, about how to snap out of negative thinking,
I would recommend thinking of and voicing
the complete opposite thing, the moment you
have a negative thought.
The moment you maybe made at mistake at work
and feel at your worst, even if its made up at first,
try saying "Actually, this is the greatest!"
When doing this, your thought process switches
and you think, because....and you start thinking of
reasons why the mistake is the greatest thing that
could have happened.
Even if you have a big failure, try saying,
"Tomorrow will be okay for sure!and try to stay
and feel as relaxed as possible. If you do this,
strangely you feel less anxious and tense,
so it's harder to repeat the same mistake. I think
its a good idea to create a habit of neutralizing things
like this.

Then you'll have more time in a neutral state, and at some point
you'll realize that you were the one just thinking of things negatively.
This is the same for positive thinking. If you neutralize things like this,
they'll realize that they were just avoiding seeing the negative side.
Seeing things either just positively or just negatively are both unnatural.
So practice doing what I just talked about, and you'll learn how to maintain
a good and healthy balance.

I'm back in Shima now!

I went to Ise Shrine!

I definitely prefer Ise Shrine with less people〜(heh)

Shima ocean is so beautiful〜

This time was pretty busy・・・
It’s too bad that I didn't have the chance to meet with everyone in Mie.

Tomorrow I'm starting work in Osaka!!!

"DJ Aoi"'s blog from the new year is so well put!

When people don't feel needed by other people,
it's easy to question or wonder about your own worth?

So what sort of people are actually needed by others?

Someone with good grades
Someone that has a good appearance
Someone who is cheerful and sociable
Someone who is good at what they do
Someone who has strong connections
Someone with a lot of money

All of these may be conditions for "someone who is needed"
but who decided on these conditions to begin with?
All of these are conditions decided on by others, and trying to meet those conditions
is the root cause of what causes people to lose sight of their own worth and value of existence.

Are there even people who meet all of these types of conditions?
Are people who don't meet these conditions unneeded by anyone?
Don't most people have two or three flaws?
And isn't that what makes them lovable?
For me at least, if someone smiles and listens to what I have to say,
I feel that person's worth and value in existence.

What's important is that you yourself decide your own worth.
If you can think, "f@cK" the conditions that someone else has decided, then all is well.
There is no more dangerous idea that to allow others to decide the value of your own life.
After all, your true value and worth isn't found in the approval or evaluation of others.

To begin with,
I think there is value in
Ask yourself of your own value of existence.
There is overwhelming value in your life,
in the struggle you are facing now to discover it.

Desire for approval is
the desire to be approved of by others.

More than being approved of by others
or outdoing others,

Become someone who approves of
and continues to approve of others.

This is it!
But, if you "wonderfulness!" is unclear,
then its easy to want or feel like you need the approval of others〜

I had an amazing dream

I had an amazing dream.
I went drinking with Kiyoshi Nagatomo.
And we talked and talked.

Most likely we talked about
Driven,
About the 4 steps
About the 4 stages to see the cup

"Taku, you're incredible〜" he complimented me in the way he always did.
Anyway, we talked forever.

And then,
we decided "let's go to sushi."
We moved to the sushi store saying, "We're still gonna eat〜"
and while going, he talked about sushi trivia.

"Go in first" he said.
"No, no, you do"...I said.
"Go in first"....he wouldn't listen.

So I went in first, but he didn't come in for a while, so I tried to call him.
That's when I realized, "He's not in this world."

That was my dream.

I told my wife and she said "You were able to hold memorial for him"
"because this is Mt. Takao" she added.
"Oh, I get it...." It was strangely convincing to me.

I met him when I was 22.
I thought, "There's someone so awesome and cool doing this work."

I told him I want to work with him.
And Nagatomo-san was the one surprised.
His reaction when we met for the first time was ・・・
that "you are smaller than the Takumi Yamazaki I see in the video."

After that・・・
We spoke and discussed all the things we learned and realized.

We opened many unknown doors together.
We went to Bali island countless times・・・
Laughed together, cried together, and conversed together.

The Solo exhibition in New York (1999) was so interesting too 〜
At the time I was really into "Bakushu Powerful Professional Baseball" and while missing sleep over it,  immersed in preparing for the exhibition.

We wrote a book together too.
A book that defines words・・・
What is a "friend"?
What is to "challenge"?
What is the "sky?"

It was a compilation of all the things we had talked about together until then.
Halfway through, we stuffed the roots too much that I actually vomited (lol)
It's a book we both gave our heart and soul too and made ourselves dizzy writing.

So many people were deeply moved and affected by Kiyoshi Nagatomo's presence. That's why he is still in everyones heart.

The good memories and meaningful words he left with us・・・
still live in and continue to grow in all of our hearts.

His unique presence, his kindness, his unwavering personality and coolness ・・・
He was mischievous, cynical, and yet was a man who embraced it all・・・

He  also visited Matsui-kun.
and apparently told him that "I found out how to come and go between worlds."
That sounds like him・・・

It was surely an amazing dream〜

I feel like my heart is lighter from deep down.

Thank you, Nagatomo-san.
And please stay in touch!!!

Happy New Year!
