Does Consciousness Create Reality? A Neuroscience Deep-Dive

"The True Nature of the Law of Attraction" — Sero-Katsu Lab with Koki Minamiyama #171

The Essence of Minamiyama Coaching①

【Part One】

① Premise: People change through "awareness" not "information"

  • What stays in memory is → not information, but "emotion + inner awareness"
  • What we're taught from the outside is forgotten
  • Only what emerges from within truly takes root

👉 The purpose of coaching

→ Not to teach, but to generate awareness

② What coaching really is (ultra simple)

  • People's brains naturally organize themselves just by talking
  • Talking = sorting through thoughts
  • Talking = releasing emotions

👉 In other words: "Coaching works just by giving someone space to talk"

③ The coach's role (most important)

A coach only does 3 things:

  1. Create a space where the client feels safe
  2. Help with putting things into words and making them visible
  3. Offer new questions

👉 It's not about providing answers

🧠 ④ What happens inside the brain (critically important)

Step ①: The client starts talking

↓ The mind settles

↓ Alpha waves (relaxed × creative state)

Step ②: They encounter a question they've never considered before

↓ "Wait — what do you mean?"

↓ The SN (switch) activates

Step ③: Shifting into inner exploration mode

↓ Perspective widens · the mind drifts

↓ DMN activation (ideation mode)

Step ④: A flash of insight occurs

↓ "Oh — maybe it's this!"

↓ Gamma waves (integration · awakening)

Step ⑤: Emotion is triggered

↓ "That's it!" ↓

👉 Behavior naturally begins to change

 🧠 Summary (brain process)

Talking

↓

Alpha waves

↓ Question (wait — ?)

↓ SN switch

↓ DMN exploration

↓ Gamma insight

↓ Emotion

↓ Behavioral change

🧩 ⑤ The essence of coaching (in one line)

👉 Triggering the shift from "Alpha waves → Gamma waves"

🧘‍♂️ ⑥ Eastern coaching (the essence)

Zen koans (examples)

  • The sound of one hand clapping: Both hands together make a sound — so what is the sound of one hand alone?
  • "Your original face before your parents were born" This asks: What is your essential nature — before your parents even existed?

What these do 👇

  • Stop the thinking mind
  • Bring you into the present moment
  • Access the unconscious

👉 = The same structure as coaching

🔥 ⑦ When growth happens

This is always present 👇

👉 Hitting a wall (Autumn)

  • Things aren't working
  • Reaching a limit
  • No answers in sight

👉 A new question is born

👉 Growth (Spring)

Spring: Growth

Summer: Expansion

Autumn: Limits · Breakdown

Winter: Reflection → Back to Spring

👉 Coaching works with "Autumn"

🧠 ⑧ The timeline of coaching

During the session

  • Creating alpha waves
  • Posing questions

After the session

  • Unconscious processing
  • Insights arise

👉 Real change happens "after"

🧩 ⑨ Common mistakes coaches make

❌ Trying to provide the answer

❌ Rushing toward a goal

❌ Relying on technique

❌ Leading the client

👉 The result: → Only the prefrontal cortex is engaged (pure thinking)

→ Unable to access what's truly felt

🧠 ⑩ What a true coach embodies

What a coach should focus on:

👉 Creating the right state

  • Relaxation (alpha)
  • Curiosity
  • Non-judgment
  • Exploration mode

👉 This is contagious (entrainment)

🌊 ⑪ The most important truth

👉 Coaching is

"A phenomenon where states are contagious"

🧩 ⑫ Summary (complete structure)

🕯 A final word

👉 Coaching is not

"A technique for giving answers"

👉 Its essence is

"A process of calibrating the brain's state and awakening awareness"

The Essence of Minamiyama Coaching ②

【Part Two】

🕯 Overall Structure (conclusion first)

The core of this transcript 👇

👉 Coaching is not "a technique for drawing out answers"

It is "a process of sparking new exploration, and generating synchronicity and aha moments"

What makes that possible 👇

👉 Not technique, but "state" and "way of being"

🕯 Layer 1: How do people actually "change"?

This is the foundation.

■ The mechanism of change

  • When a person puts into words and makes visible
  • what already exists within them
  • dopamine is released
  • → action happens naturally

👉 In other words:

"There is no need to make someone take action"

■ Key points

  • The right question → unnecessary
  • Prompting action → unnecessary

👉 What's needed is:

"Awareness (the aha experience)"

🕯 Layer 2: How does that awareness arise?

This is the heart of it all.

■ New exploration (random exploration)

People change when they encounter 👇

  • An unknown perspective
  • A new combination of ideas
  • An unpredictable question

👉 When this is repeated:

➡️ Synchronicity

➡️ Aha experiences

begin to occur

 ■ Why?

Because 👇

  • The brain responds to the "unknown"
  • As information accumulates
  • at a certain moment, it "integrates"

👉 This is the sudden flash of insight

🕯 Layer 3: The essential structure of coaching

Here is where coaching reveals its true nature.

■ The coaching flow (essential)

① Check in on state

 ② Encourage new exploration (questions)

 ③ Information accumulates

 ④ Aha experience (integration)

 ⑤ Spontaneous action

■ Key points

👉 The coach does not "lead"

👉 The coach "expands the exploration"

🕯 Layer 4: The coach's "state" determines everything

This part is critically important.

■ What a good state looks like

  • Not tense
  • Curious
  • Non-judgmental
  • Trusting in the client

👉 When this is present 👇

  • Oxytocin is released
  • Heart rate stabilizes
  • Entrainment (resonance) occurs

■ The result

👉 Access to the client's unconscious becomes possible

👉 Questions arise "naturally"

🕯 Layer 5: What must not be done (critically important)

This may actually be the most important layer.

■ NG ①: Making assumptions

  • "You seem like a negative person"
  • "You're this type of person"

👉 It shuts down the client's potential

■ NG ②: Thinking you understand

  • In reality, the alignment rate is below 5%

👉 The default stance 👇 "I understand nothing"

■ NG ③: Filtering

  • Age
  • Gender
  • Occupation

👉 All of these are "limitations on potential"

■ NG ④: Searching for the right answer

  • The correct question
  • The correct direction

👉 When you do this, exploration stops

🕯 Layer 6: The nature of synchronicity

This is a fascinating part.

■ Conditions for synchronicity to occur

👉 What they have in common 👇

  • Actively exploring new territory
  • Moving with randomness
  • Not fixed in place

■ The type of person it doesn't happen for

  • Only moves according to plan
  • Commits to predetermined outcomes
  • Stays within the safe zone only

■ Conclusion

👉 Lucky people = people who are out there making moves

🕯 Layer 7: Where coaching and life converge

This is the integration.

■ Coaching = a way of living

  • Exploring new territory
  • Encountering the unexpected
  • Integrating it all

👉 This is being recreated within each session

■ Therefore

  • Coaching is not a technique
  • It is determined by how you live day to day

🕯 Layer 8: Understanding the time dimension

This too is quite important.

■ The timing of awareness

  • 30 seconds later → immediate response
  • 10 minutes later → deeper thinking
  • Days later → unconscious integration

👉 The impact of coaching 👇

Can last for 30 years

🕯 Layer 9: The ultimate summary

One final line.

👉 Coaching is

"A process of keeping possibility open, sparking new exploration, generating synchronicity and aha experiences, and setting life in motion"

The Essence of Minamiyama Coaching ③

【Part Three】

🕯 Overall Structure (the big picture first)

The core of this transcript is built across five layers:

① The essence of coaching

② Philosophical capacity (the foundation of thought)

③ Practical technique (how to engage)

④ Way of being (state · energy)

⑤ Conclusion (what a coach truly is)

① The Essence of Coaching (what sets it apart from AI)

Conclusion Coaching is "the resonance of one heart with another"

■ Key points · Knowledge and questions alone can be replicated by AI ·

What only a human can do is

👉 A conversation that touches the heart

👉 Engagement that moves something within

■ The essence 👉 "Alignment (resonance) at the level of the heart"

② Philosophical Capacity (the coach's foundation)

■ What philosophy is

· A state of thinking that grasps things from multiple perspectives

 · A stance of continuing to explore without fixing on answers

■ The 3 elements of philosophical capacity

① The ability to observe your own perspective from the outside (Metacognition)

② The ability to see a single event through multiple lenses (Multi-angle perspective)

③ The ability to hold open the possibility that you might be wrong (Intellectual humility)

■ A key concept

👉 Not "A or B" 👉 But "both A and B"

③ Practical Technique (how coaching works)

■ Patterns to avoid

· Jumping straight to conclusions

· Presenting the right answer

· Making assumptions

Example: "I don't have freedom → So just start a business"

■ The right approach

① Hold multiple hypotheses · A work issue? · A family issue? · An emotional issue?

② Explore the definition · What does "freedom" actually mean to them?

③ Explore together 👉 "Let's look at this together"

■ The coaching flow

① The surface-level words

② Expanding the hypotheses

③ Arriving at the essence

④ Self-resolution occurs

■ The core

👉 Answers are not something to be given

👉 They emerge from within the person themselves

④ Understanding People (why making assumptions is dangerous)

■ People are not simple

Examples: · An athlete → successful, yet struggling

· An executive → looks strong, yet deeply sensitive

A singer → not fallen from grace, but making a choice

■ Surface and interior are different things

👉 Surface: what is visible

👉 Interior: true motivation · genuine emotion

■ The essential stance

👉 "There must be something more going on"

⑤ Thinking as Training (how coaches develop)

■ Stop settling for single interpretations

Example: "Had an affair → must be a bad person"

Instead:

👉 Generate multiple hypotheses

· Their true feelings had been suppressed

· A problem within the relationship

· Environmental factors

■ The core skill

👉 The ability to hold multiple hypotheses from a single event

⑥ Intellectual Humility (the most important concept)

■ Definition 👉 Knowing that your own understanding has limits

■ Its effects · Exploration continues · The other person opens up

■ The opposite state 👉 The moment you think "I've got it figured out" — it's over

⑦ State (the coach's way of being)

This is the most important part.

■ The ideal state

· Offering a sense of safety

· Not judging

· Being genuinely interested

· A feeling of going on an adventure together

■ What happens as a result

The client 👉 Enters an alpha state (their true self)

■ From there

· Aha experiences

· Self-directed decisions

· Action becomes automatic

⑧ The Brain and the Mechanism of Change

■ Key point · Change happens in the "animal brain"

■ The flow

① Safety

② Access to the true self

③ Novelty (exploration)

④ Dopamine

⑤ Action

👉 The coach is the one who sets this in motion

⑨ How to Train as a Coach (important)

■ Essential conditions

① Breadth of experience

② Stress tolerance

③ Exploration of new territory

■ Why

👉 To be able to understand the client's world

■ Practical examples

· Extreme experiences (cold · fear)

· Encounters with the unknown

· Stepping outside the ordinary

👉 This is what determines the quality of your questions

⑩ Internal Sensing (the skill of not being swept away)

■ The problem

· Being too easily affected by the other person

■ The solution

👉 Train interoceptive awareness

■ Specifically

· Notice your own sense of discomfort

 · Trust your felt sense

👉 With this, you can "resonate without being consumed"

⑪ Final Conclusion (what coaching truly is)

■ The essence

👉 Coaching = Resonance

■ What it requires

· Philosophy (multiple perspectives)

· Experience (breadth)

· Exploration (curiosity)

· State (safety · play · adventure)

■ The most important thing of all

👉 The coach is genuinely enjoying themselves

■ The final core truth

👉 The quality of your questions = the quality of your life

👉 How you live day to day = the quality of your coaching

🕯 Summary (ultra condensed)

Coaching is not "a technique for giving answers" —

👉 It is a process of exploring the unknown alongside another person,

👉 helping them access their true self,

👉 and sparking change from within

And all of it

👉 comes down to the coach's way of being

Supplementary note

4 elements that elevate the quality of your questions:

① Philosophy

② Deep listening

③ Experience

④ Neuroscience

1. The Essence of Coaching: Not Technique, but "Resonance"

Coaching is not "information delivery" that teaches knowledge — it is a process of sparking "awareness (the aha experience)" in the other person's brain.

  • States are contagious: When the coach is relaxed and in a curiosity-filled "state," this guides the client's brain into alpha waves (a creative state).

  • What sets it apart from AI: It is not mere questioning technique — "heart-level resonance" between two human beings is the key to accessing the other person's unconscious.

2. The Brain and the Mechanism of Change: From Alpha Waves to Gamma Waves

People do not change simply by receiving "the right answer." Change happens when the following steps occur inside the brain, causing behavior to shift automatically.

  1. Safety and dialogue: Talking in a relaxed state organizes the brain (alpha waves).

  2. New exploration: An unexpected "question" activates the brain's switch (SN), prompting deep inner exploration (DMN activation).

  3. Insight: Information integrates and a jolt of "that's it!" runs through the body (gamma waves).

  4. Emotional drive: Once emotion is set in motion, behavior changes naturally — with no sense of effort.

3. The Coach's Way of Being: The Quality of Questions= The Quality of Life

A great coach doesn't carry "answers" — they carry "questions."

  •  Intellectual humility: Starting from the premise that "I understand nothing," they eliminate assumptions (filters) and expand hypotheses through a multi-angle perspective.

  • Working with Autumn (the wall): The client's sense of being stuck (hitting a limit) is seen as the precursor to growth — and they venture into the unknown together.

  • The breadth of a life creates the questions: The coach's own range of experience, philosophical depth, and "state of genuine enjoyment" determine the depth and sharpness of the questions they bring.

💡 In One Line

Coaching is a "process of resonance" — in which the coach's way of being calibrates the other person's brain, and by exploring the unknown together, catalyzes dramatic change from within.

Is Coincidence a Sign from the Future? Unraveling the Mystery of Synchronicity Through Neuroscience-- — Sero-Katsu Lab with Koki Minamiyama #18

【The Mystery of Synchronicity】Is Destiny ccoming from the "Future?" The True Nature of "Coincidence" Decoded Through Neuroscience

It's Takumi Yamazaki.

You know that feeling — you were just thinking about someone and a message from them pops up, or exactly the piece of information you needed lands in front of you at the perfect moment?

That's what people call "synchronicity" — meaningful coincidence. And it turns out, it's not just random chance. Through the lens of neuroscience, something incredibly fascinating is actually going on.

Today I want to share the secret to riding those "waves of life."

1. "Meaning-making" is always playing catch-up!

Hear me out on this one. It turns out that 0.35 seconds before we consciously decide "okay, I'm going to do this!" — and up to 10 seconds before a major decision — the brain (the unconscious) has already arrived at the answer.

In other words, what we experience as "I decided that myself!" is really just a post-hoc reason we attach to something the brain already did on its own.

Life is like a stream of events flowing ahead of us, and we're chasing along behind, sticking labels on as we go — "oh, so that's what that meant!" If that's the case, why not make those labels — those meanings we assign — as wonderfully happy as possible?

2. What if time flows from "future to past"?!

Our normal sense is that time flows from past → present → future. But when synchronicities are happening frequently, it feels more like the "future" is already set, and the causes are raining down from there.

"I was just randomly thinking about that person" — maybe that's because "connecting with them in the future" was already decided, and the unconscious made you think of them as preparation.

We're catching information that's flowing down from upstream (the future) right here, right now. Seen that way, synchronicity is a "sign from the future."

3. Let go of the ego and open your heart!

So how do we invite more synchronicity? The keyword is "dissolving the ego."

When you're locked in rigid, top-down thinking — "I have to make this work!" "I have to succeed!" — your brainwaves are tense and on edge, and synchronization with the world around you becomes harder to happen.

On the flip side, think of the feeling you had as a kid — "oh, this looks fun!" "this excites me!" — heart wide open. In that state of being so absorbed you forget yourself, your brainwaves settle and you begin to sync with the world.

Sero-Katsu habits for becoming someone synchronicity finds

To build a brain that draws synchronicity in, "serotonin" is key.

When serotonin is low, the brain goes into stress mode and can only think about fleeing from whatever threat is right in front of it.

  • Create space to let your mind wander
  • Enjoy meditation or time in nature
  • Honor your intuition — "I don't know why, but I like this"

Nurture your inner environment with habits like these, and your heart becomes easier to open. Then the exciting "visions" from the future start coming through — and before you know it, you're connected to the most incredible opportunities. That kind of magic starts feeling completely normal.

====

We're not controlling our lives by willpower alone. Try surrendering to a bigger current — to the signs coming from the future.

When you feel that "wait — is this a synchronicity?" moment, that's your signal. The path you're meant to take. Have fun with it, and ride that wave!

Why Do Celebrities Carry Small Bags?

Instructor: Miho Sakurai

Stage 1: The Instructor's Foundation (Building Credibility)

Sakurai once hit absolute rock bottom. She lived through divorce, the loss of all her work, debt, and a complete loss of confidence — crying every night for four months.

From there, she put her fortune-turning philosophy into practice, and today she brings 20 years of reading experience, over 10,000 readings, numerous conversations with celebrities, participation in the Davos Forum, speeches at the UN and the French Women's Summit, a Forbes feature, and charitable work in Cambodia (donating playground equipment to four schools). In other words, her theory is presented not as idealism, but as lived proof of rebuilding from the bottom up.

Stage 2: The Central Thesis

"The reason celebrities carry small bags = they have a sense of enoughness (trust in themselves, others, and the universe) — so there is no need to carry it all with them." This is not a fashion discussion. It is about the structure of consciousness and attraction.

Stage 3: The Contrast (why bags get bigger)

Anxiety type (large bag)Trust type (small bag)
A sense of lack · fear of losing thingsIt's okay · what I need will come when I need it
Stuffed with information, objects, worryLight · free
Comparing to others · trapped in the pastTrusting in self, others, and the universe
Self-rejectionRecognition of self-worth

Carrying too much, trying too hard, rushing around — all are expressions of how large the anxiety is.

Stage 4: The Practical Mechanism (why "letting go" works)

  1. Things you never touch emit negative energy → they become invisible chains that restrict your actions
  2. Full release (zenshari): Keep what truly matters close around you rather than tucking it away — and let go of what has been tucked away
  3. Let go → raise your quality: When you have fewer things, you can no longer treat them carelessly — care naturally takes root. As a result, you become someone who handles even luxury items with the same respect → your frequency rises → the people and environments you encounter change (hotel upgrades, etc.)
  4. Letting go = a declaration of "I have enough": Buying from a place of lack stops, and people begin bringing abundance (money · meaningful connections) to you

Stage 5: Concrete Actions

  • Remove from your bag anything you haven't touched that day
  • Ask each item: "Do I truly need this right now, at this point in my life?"
  • Entryway: one pair of shoes out, toes facing outward, nothing on the floor (to clear stagnant energy)
  • Keep the bathroom clean (a place where inspiration descends)
  • When in doubt, rather than "throw it away," "pass it on · donate" works too
  • Declare: "I already have more than enough." "Everything I need will come to me."

Stage 6: Applying This to Relationships Celebrities are selective about people too. They keep only relationships where there is genuine mutual giving, and let go of takers and those who bring trouble. Abundant people don't create drama. The frequency of the people you spend time with determines your own frequency.

Core Message "Letting go" is not loss — it is a declaration that "I already have enough." In the space that opens up, the universe brings new abundance, new people, new opportunities. The small bag is simply the visible expression of that trust.
