【SUGOI!Way of Talking】(excerpted from page 104 "Creating space when talking" )

"The key to communicating in a way that gets the message across,
is to talk as if you are telling a scary story"!

When telling scary story,
most people, will keenly watch the other person's reaction,
and create plenty of space in between sentences.

All you have to do is "use the skill you use normally when telling scary stories"
and apply it to your regular conversations.

However, if there is too much space, then people start getting bored,

so there is such a thing as an appropriate length."

The message I took from this page!
↓↓
It's true that when telling scary stories,

as we talk we think about things like,
"How can this scariness get across?"
"The spacing now might not be right for drawing people into the story."

In other words, you're subconsciously checking,
"Is the message you want to communicate getting across?"

And of course if people are drawn into the story, then its exciting for the person talking too.

Many people undoubtedly had this experience!
Which is why it can be immediately applied to daily life.

Regarding how to make that "space", it says it's best to change who you talk to, and to practice telling the same story over and over and you'll find the best timing for that "space."

In the past, I was told,

"It feels long when you talk because there's too much space right after the comma"

After reading this, it made me want to try to find out

"how many seconds after the comma is best to leave silent"

There are 56 other "tips to talking" in this book that will make you want to try it out immediately!

If you're interested at all in improving the "way you talk",
please check it out.
