So, who is Hideto Tomabechi

He is a Japanese cognitive scientist, computer scientist, and businessman. He was the first Japanese person to earn a Ph.D. in computational linguistics from Carnegie Mellon University, and is also known as a specialist in brainwashing and de-brainwashing.

2. Study abroad: As a Fulbright scholar, he studied at Yale University Graduate School, where he studied under Roger Schank, known as "the father of artificial intelligence."
3. Doctorate: Earned the first Ph.D. in computational linguistics by a Japanese national from Carnegie Mellon University Graduate School.
4. Research positions: Held positions including Associate Professor at Tokushima University and Director of the JustSystems Basic Research Institute.

Areas of Expertise and Activities

- Research fields: Spans a wide range including functional brain science, computational linguistics, cognitive psychology, analytic philosophy, and artificial intelligence.
- Social contributions: Became widely known to the public for his involvement in de-brainwashing members during the 1995 Aum Shinrikyo incident.
- Other activities: In April 2024, he opened "Tomabechi Gakuin" to cultivate next-generation leaders, reflecting a strong focus on education. He is also a guitarist and owns his own helicopter — his range of activities is remarkably broad.
