What is a chemical PFAS?
~ The difference between PFOA that McDonald's and Amazon decided to ban〜
PFAS, also called "Forever Chemicals" in English, are not easily decomposed in nature or in the body, and once formed, they tend to accumulate. The reason for this is that the carbon-fluorine bond that makes up PFAS is one of the strongest bonds that can be created in organic chemistry. However, it does not actually remain indefinitely. It is so named because it has an extremely long half-life of 4.5 years among regularly used chemicals.

Among PFAS, regulations have been introduced since around 2000 for PFOS in particular, as environmental NGOs and others were quick to point out the risks of PFOS due to its hard-to-degrade properties, and in 2000, 3M, a major manufacturer, recognized that PFOS had accumulated in high concentrations in wildlife, and in 2002, 3M voluntarily discontinued the production of PFOS.
