A pension reform bill to lower the age of starting to receive public pension to age 75 was passed in the House of Representatives on May 12th. This bill which was also agreed upon by not only the ruling party, but also the Constitutional Democratic party, aimed to boost employment of senior citizens, was sent to the House of Counselors and was established on the 29th.

"Supposedly if you start receiving from 75, it will increase 84%. For example, for someone who is eligible to receive 150,000 yen pension money, if they start receiving from 75 years old will receive 276,000 yen. This seems really good, and during the deliberation of the House of Representatives, Mr. Miyamoto member of the Communist Party pursues this further. The government says that the total amount of pension money that you receive in your lifetime will be unchanged even if you start receiving at 75 years old, and while that may be true, social insurance premiums and income tax still needs to be paid on pensions. So thinking on a take-home basis, it has become clear that if you choose to begin receiving from 75, the total amount you receive in your lifetime will decrease 3.5 million yen. It's called progressive taxation and as income rises, so do tax rates, so if you choose to receive from 75 years old, more is taken in taxes and social insurance fees that it actually ends up decreasing the amount of pension money received.
In order to recover the cost, you'll have to continue to live until 90. This is extremely important news, and yet it was buried under all the news of COVID-19, and was hardly covered.

163 fireworks companies are participating nation wide. Where the fireworks will be is unannounced to avoid crowds.
This project was planned due to many summer events being canceled due to corona.
"If you follow the roots of fireworks, you'll see that its origin can be found in shooting up fireworks as prayers against the evil epidemic, as well as for the purpose or requiem, and fireworks wishing for speedy recovery.
What we can do now, is to create fireworks and launch them. We do this with prayers against the evil epidemic and for people to look up at the lit up sky and "smile." We hope to bring hope and energy to the people all around Japan, so we set up this project to launch fireworks in areas nationwide.
