“Sensei Iso,” whom I was told about by
the beautiful professional golfer Yumi Sasahara.

“Let’s widen our field of view.”
This phrase gets used in all sorts of contexts.
In movement and physical expression,
fixing your gaze on one point makes the body tense,
so take in the whole through your peripheral vision.
Look not with the eye that stares,
but with the eye that perceives.
In work and in creative practice too,
if you are trapped in a single viewpoint,
no new solutions or ideas will come.
So grasp things from a wide perspective.
Both in the sense of physical sight
and in the sense of how we take in information,
widening the field of view matters —
that claim is a common one.
“Yes, that sounds about right”
— it’s the kind of claim the head accepts easily.
But were you actually able to widen your field of view, your way of taking things in?
Asked that, I suspect most people would find it difficult.
Changing your “interpretation” or the “meaning” you assign to something, in your head,
in that very moment,
is not hard,
but this is something like a momentary magic trick,
and it tends to stop at the level of
sophistry, evasion, papering over.
(Though we rarely notice it.)
One reason for this is “the body’s response.”
When the state of the body (the spine) changes,
the way the five senses receive things, and how they are interpreted,
change unconsciously,
and change to a degree that is genuinely interesting.
Conversely, even if you transform the “interpretation” and the “meaning”
in your head,
the state of the body takes priority,
and your response to the phenomenon barely changes at all.
This time, the state of the spine,
“vision,” and the unconscious physical expression
that comes with it —
this relationship,
I’ll show you by filming what the actual change looks like 😊
Now taking bookings for a session.
Correct posture, correct ways of moving —
you understand them in theory,
but is your body really
in that ideal state?
The body is not built to be operated consciously;
it is designed to work well by flowing naturally.
Improving performance.
Resolving problems.
In any context,
the seemingly admirable motive of
“let’s do it correctly”
is in fact distrust of, and an attack on, your own body.
Rather than “doing it correctly,”
it is when you are “as you are, natural”
that the body, and things in general, go well.
Now taking bookings for a session.
You don’t know what correct posture is.
You don’t know the correct way to walk or move.
You understand the theory but can’t reproduce it.
You repeat it and nothing changes.
“The correct such-and-such” —
methodologies are everywhere,
but however much you imitate a correct answer that exists outside you,
the fact is it doesn’t fit your body,
the only one of its kind in the world.
The problem begins at the moment you imitate “the correct such-and-such,”
so why not start by grasping
the state of your own body accurately?
“The answer is inside you” —
when you’re given an abstraction like that,
it doesn’t land at all,
and I’m well aware of that.
Even so, the answer exists nowhere but inside you,
and even if you’re no master,
drawing it out is possible.
Start with your own state
(the condition of your spine, its habits).
Please try grasping it carefully 😊
So happy——

“LiFE: The Fourth Place”
A twenty-year-old dream starts moving!
〜Takumi Yamazaki’s challenge to become a “film director”〜
Guest: Takumi Yamazaki
DJs: Daisuke Sato & Naoki Okada
A twenty-year-old dream starts moving ❤️🔥
“Someday I want to be a film director!”
It’s been about twenty years since he first started thinking that.
Takumi Yamazaki has realized dream after dream — sending bestseller after bestseller out into the world, holding a solo exhibition in New York, and more.
And now, at sixty-one, the dream of being a “film director” that he has held in his chest all these years is finally becoming real ✨
The title of the film is
“The Switch for Getting Started.”
On crowdfunding,
support came in from around 2,000 people, passing 80 million yen 🔥
But Takumi says:
“I was absolutely terrified…”
Even someone who has accomplished so much finds a challenge toward a new dream frightening.
And still, he takes the step.
In this broadcast, he talked at length about:
・Why he was able to hold on to the dream of directing for twenty years
・What it means to take on a new dream from the age of sixty-one
・The talent of yours that lies sleeping inside “the things that irritate you”
・The grown-up common sense that whittles dreams away
・Behind the scenes of the crowdfunding that passed 80 million yen
・The feelings he poured into the film “The Switch for Getting Started”
— and plenty more 😊😊😊
There was one line that stayed with me above all.
“What opens the door isn’t talent. It’s your feeling. 🥺”
Age has nothing to do with it.
This moment, right now, is the youngest you will ever be in your life!
If you have a dream you’ve forgotten.
If you have a dream you were about to give up on.
If time has been slipping by while you think “someday I’ll do it.”
Please listen.

That kind of session —

A coach’s two great jobs are
“setting the goal at W2”

In August we held
“A Thorough Explanation of How to Set W2.”
I talked about setting the future you truly want —
“W2 = the world you want to become.”
That was the subject.
And this time——
on to the step beyond it.
“Once you’ve set your W2, how do you actually use it?”
Using the Quantum Journal,
how do you put it into practice in daily life?
This time it is precisely
“How to Use the Quantum Journal — Practical Edition.”
Of course for those who learned how to set W2 at the August talk, but also for anyone thinking:
“I’ve set my W2, but what do I do after that?”
“I want to use the journal more effectively.”
“I don’t want to just write and stop — I want to bring it into daily life.”
This is content I very much want those people to join for.
Not just understanding it in your head, but actually
“writing,” “using,” “acting.”
How do you connect your W2
to your daily reality?
Takumi Yamazaki
will tell you directly how to use
the Quantum Journal concretely.
In the second half of the talk there will be time for questions.
Please take this chance to ask directly about whatever is on your mind!
Everyone, please do join us ✨

*Healing people’s hearts with rice balls
Aouma Cooking, August 2008 issue: Hatsume Sato of Mori no Isukia and her “omusubi”
1. The background of “Mori no Isukia” and Hatsume Sato
-
Feeling for her hometown, and building a base there
-
The origin of the name “Mori no Isukia” and its role
-
The name comes from a volcano in southern Italy and the story attached to Ischia — a place where people carrying burdens of the heart that nothing can relieve are healed [[01:47]].
-
Those who visit are healed in body and mind by the food and the space Hatsume prepares with all her heart, and they go home with new energy [[02:08]].
-
2. Hatsume Sato’s way of making “omusubi,” and the thinking behind it
-
Preparation and packing the rice[[02:16]]
-
The secret of salting and shaping[[03:30]]
-
Wring the water from the wet cloth, take salt with three fingers, and work it thoroughly into both hands [[03:36]].
-
Press gently, with “just enough pressure that every single grain of rice can still breathe.” The point is not to squeeze too hard [[03:54]].
-
The firmness when shaped should be just enough not to stick to your hands — a little firmer than ordinary rice [[04:08]].
-
-
How to cut and wrap the nori[[04:15]]
-
Lay the nori on a flat surface and cut it neatly in half [[05:15]].
-
Fold about 2cm of the edge and trim it off so it becomes a square (one sheet makes two) [[05:47]].
-
The trimmed-off scraps of nori are used without waste — simmered into tsukudani, for instance [[06:30]].
-
Place the nori on the rice ball, shape it, and press it so it settles in properly [[04:24]].
-
3. The cultural and international significance of omusubi
-
Its place as Japanese culture
-
Japan has long been an agricultural country — the land of abundant rice — and the omusubi itself, shaped by hand, is described as one important part of Japanese culture [[06:51]].
-
-
Spreading at home and abroad, and healing people
-
Through omusubi-making activities overseas (in America, Singapore and elsewhere), it has been enormously well received by people from other countries and from many different backgrounds [[07:21]].
-
The very act of shaping a rice ball skillfully and deliciouslyhas the power to comfort people, to soften them, to make them feel rich in spirit — that is how it concludes [[08:06]].
